Principles that Guide My Practice
Meditation, Breathing, and Yogic Principles
Incorporating meditation, focused breathing, and yogic principles into our lives can work wonders in calming the self. By practicing these techniques, we cultivate a profound sense of inner peace and tranquility. Calming ourselves down is not just a skill, but a vital tool for navigating life’s challenges with grace and resilience. It’s a beautiful journey of self-discovery and self-care.
Living Well with OCD
Learning skills, tools and new perspectives to make living with OCD easier. Recovery from OCD is a blend of learning to build frustration tolerance which is the ability to manage uncomfortable feelings, practicing acceptance, facing fears through exposure and redirecting focus to the things that matter in our lives. The more these skills and philosophies are practiced, the more calmness you will experience. It is hard work but peace and wellness are worth hard work!
Unconditional Self-Acceptance
When we practice unconditional self-acceptance, it helps us let go of the shame we may carry about ourselves. By embracing who we are completely, we gain confidence in our abilities to tackle anything that comes our way. Unconditional self-acceptance means loving oneself no matter what.
Learning to Put Oneself First
Folks who have worked with me have discovered the importance of putting themselves first. They’ve learned that self-care is not selfish, but a vital and necessary behavior. When we prioritize our own well-being, we preserve our energy and become more available for others. By establishing healthy boundaries, we avoid building resentments and navigate themes like guilt and shame. My clients often report a greater sense of self-awareness, improved ability to set boundaries, and enhanced communication of their needs. They also report becoming less tolerant of toxic behavior in their lives.
Facing Fears
The best way to conquer fears is by being brave and facing them head-on, one small step at a time. By gradually exposing yourself to what you fear, you build resilience and confidence. Remember, courage isn’t the absence of fear, but rather taking action despite it. You’ve got this!
Developing a Relationship with the Inner Child
Identifying your inner adult who is in charge and the inner child, or all of the triggers and feelings from the past showing up now. This process helps build confidence in the ability to solve problems and get through challenges and rise above
